Head Coach, Dean played for the Wisconsin Badgers where he helped the team win a National Championship in 1973 and was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player. He played 497 regular season games in the NHL between 1974 and 1981 for the Atlanta Flames, Minnesota North Stars and New York Rangers. After retiring from playing professionally, Dean coached at the Division I and III level for the University of Minnesota, University of Wisconsin – River Falls, and Alaska Anchorage winning a National Championship and being named National Coach of the Year. Dean has also been inducted into the University of Wisconsin Hall of Fame. Dean moved to Hudson, WI in 2002 and built the 1st ever Total Hockey Training Center.
GM / Assistant Coach, Marty has been involved with the Havoc since 2017 as a billet family and Assistant coach since 2020. Growing up in Swan River, Manitoba the heart of the prairies of Canada, Marty was born into the game of hockey. On outdoor rinks and the river behind his home, Marty developed the love for the game. Very involved in sports all through high school and college he was on winning teams and captained his football and baseball teams through provincial titles. Dabbing in the Junior hockey system he still enjoys watching his hometown team, the Swan Valley Stampeders as well as the team he dreamt of playing for, the Brandon Wheat Kings. Marty brings well over a decade of working with this age group as a juvenile probation officer as well as a high school counselor before starting his own business which allows him to be on the ice daily as well as travel with the team. Marty brings a lot of relational value for the team to not only help with hockey related things but skills that will help in the future.
Skills Coach, Pete grew up in the East metro and his career started in Hudson, Wi where he played youth and HS Hockey. He then moved on to play Junior A Hockey in the USHL for the St. Paul Vulcans and was a member of the 2000 National Championship team. Pete played NCAA Division 1 hockey in the WCHA for the University of Alaska-Anchorage (2000-2001) and University of Wisconsin (2001-2005).
Coach Talafous has spent the past 20 years in hockey development and coaching. He has trained thousands of hockey players from mites/U8 to college/pro. From 2005-2014, Pete was the Director of Operations at Total Hockey- Hudson and currently is part owner and general manager of xHockeyProducts Training Facility in Lakeville, MN.
Pete has a passion to work with athletes of all age and ability levels. His goal when he steps on the ice, is to make sure the players develop a love and passion for the game. He believes all players need to be pushed out of their comfort zone, but with coaching that reinforces the positives and in turn creates confidence in players.
Head Strength Coach, Brent has been with the Havoc since 2018. He has been coaching athletes for over 17 years. He is originally from Sylva, North Carolina where he was involved in athletics his whole life. He was a 3 sport athlete in high school, and played Junior College baseball at Pitt Community College. He found his love of Strength and Conditioning at East Carolina University. While in North Carolina he was the Strength Coach at JH Rose High School and was part of a team that won 4 straight State Championships in football. Since moving to Wisconsin in 2017 he has been the Head Coach at C1 Athletics and in this role he has worked with Ellsworth High School and helped them to a State Runner-up finish in football and several individual State Championships in Track and Field. He is USA Weightlifting National Coach and has had several athletes qualify for national meets on the youth, junior, and senior levels. Brent is passionate about helping athletes move well and continuing to help them excel in their sport.
Director of Scouting, Scott Sturgeon grew up in small town Winchester, WI. After high school, Scott answered the call to serve his country for the United States Navy. Once he returned home, he started to coach youth hockey and led his team the their first state championship. The success followed while coaching AAA and junior hockey levels. During the 2017-18 season, Coach Sturgeon led the Ironwood Fighting Yoopers (USPHL) to a winning record and the programs first playoff appearance. Scott now works remotely from Park Falls, WI raising his three kids. In addition to Coach Sturgeon recruiting players, he also plays a role with the advancement of Havoc players.
